Cars in Germany's Town Discovered Covered with Swastikas in Human Blood, Law Enforcement Report

Authorities mentioned they were contacted by a individual who found a car in Hanau smeared with reddish liquid

Around fifty cars have been smeared with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the German city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to authorities.

Cars, walls and postboxes were marked, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they announced in a release.

Officers state they were notified during the night on Wednesday, when a man observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been covered with a reddish-hued fluid.

The fluid had been applied in the form of a swastika, they reported.

Officers then found multiple other smeared cars and residential walls in the adjacent neighborhood.

Swastikas are prohibited in Germany under regulations prohibiting the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.

Law enforcement report early analysis indicate the liquid was probably human blood.

"Currently there is no indication as to its source; officials are presently not aware of any physical harm in relation with the occurrence," they stated.

City officials said they were working "to resolve the mystery" and have appealed to the residents for tips.

A high-ranking official stated the vandalism made him stunned and needed to be solved rapidly.

"This incident strikes at the core of Hanau and reopens the pain of the extremist attack five years ago," he stated on a platform, referring to the killing of nine people by a assailant targeting residents of foreign heritage in five years prior.
